New Q & A Feature within the site
We
have set up a new Q & A feature
within our Discussion Board for any
queries and issues that you may have
with High Blood Pressure -
go on click here and give it a
try.
The facility does require you to
register but all registration
information is confidential and only
requires a valid email address so
that if you want to remain anonymous
if the issue is a "rather delicate"
one then you can, so go give it a
try! |
Rule No 1 with High
Blood Pressure is DO NOT ever live in denial.
One of us tried that and it wasn't the cleverest
thing he had have ever done. When he was
finally forced to admit that there was
something wrong, his BP
reading that was taken was 216 over 165! He
was later informed rather cheerily by his
doctor that he was extremely lucky still to
be alive!
So if you have
any suspicion that you or any members of
your family either suffer from High Blood
Pressure or are at risk then the next thing
to do is to get yourself checked out
straight away. No doctor is going to frown
upon you for taking the time to check.
Prevention where possible is always
preferable to remedial treatment. Ongoing
treatment is usually much cheaper than
emergency hospitalisation (and much nicer
and safer too).
We plan to cover
the subject of High Blood Pressure in three
separate "themes" and the first of those is
"Diagnosis
and Information" - what
exactly is this condition that you have just
been told you have? Secondly, OK now you
have been diagnosed, so what can be done about it and
information about this can be found in our "Treatment"
section.
Thirdly, so now
you have been diagnosed with HBP, you have been given a course of
treatment to follow, how can you now try and
ensure that you can get the best out of the
rest of your life safely? So this section is
all about "Lifestyle"
Lastly, at
various points throughout the site we will
provide you with links from the subjects
being discussed to the relevant sections in
our
discussion forum
at our Sister site
Living with High Blood Pressure
and this
is where we hope that you will all drop by
from time to time, lurk if you need to, and
share with others your experiences, feelings
and how you have come to terms with living
with High Blood Pressure etc.
We have all at
one time or another needed some assistance
to help "get our acts together" and this is
where we can all muck in and help others who
need a little "virtual" help from time to
time - go on, try feeling virtuous from time
to time and help others, the feeling can be
so good it could possibly be described as
being almost sinful!
OK, the other
major MEGA important piece of information
that we have to get over at this point is
that we are NOT Medical Professionals.
Dramatic pause
here for effect!
We are not
qualified to, and cannot (nor would we try
to) give anyone any Medical advice. That
area is most very definitely for the Doctors
and Nurses amongst us. However what we can
do is provide a layman's perspective upon
matters and try and shed a little guidance
and assistance to help you with this
subject.
"Earth is the insane
asylum for the universe."
At times we may
appear slightly less than serious than
others and this is primarily an editorial
decision (sounds very grand doesn't it)
because we all firmly believe that humour is
one of the best ways of dealing and learning
to cope with this condition. Those who think that we
take this subject a little too flippantly ought to read
Sylvia Mauger's article "The
Use of Humour in Stress Management".
