Effects of High Blood Pressure
OK Listen up
folks.
Grim moment of reality time. If you suffer
from High Blood Pressure and it goes
untreated for a long time, the effects of
the untreated Hypertension will if not kill
you, will weaken several of your key organs
and cardiovascular functions, making you
prone to breaking down and catching
diseases.
The Heart
First up the Heart. When Blood pressure is
allowed to remain high for prolonged
periods, the Heart is forced to work harder
and for prolonged periods and to pump blood
more vigorously than is good for it. |

The analysis
is with any machine that is forced to work
harder and for longer than it should do –
sooner or later the mechanism begins to
weaken and fail. With the Heart, it may
become enlarged, a condition that is known
as cardiomegaly. The arteries could become
constricted and blocked, causing blood flow
to the heart to diminish and small sections
of the heart muscle to waste away.
The trouble with all of this is that the
person actually experiencing these negative
changes probably won’t feel any of the
symptoms whatsoever. Again to use the phrase
we have mentioned elsewhere, High Blood
Pressure is not known as the silent killer
for nothing.
The next thing that the sufferer will notice
is possibly a tightness or discomfort in the
chest brought on or about by exertion or
stress. On the other hand the actions could
turn out to be more serious i.e. shortness
of breath, swelling and fluid on the lung
etc.
To the outsider when these conditions strike
it may appear that they are an immediate
response to recent activities. Again, the
trouble is that they have probably been
building up for some time and so have cause
much more hidden and unseen damage.
The Kidneys
The major function of the Kidneys is to
filter the blood as it moves through our
system
and remove waste products that build up in
the blood. These toxic residues are then
transferred into the urine for excretion.
If the blood flow into the kidneys is
reduced through the hardening of the blood
vessels / arteries caused by Hypertension,
the toxins will no longer be eliminated
properly and will remain in the blood. This
will eventually cause a condition, a state
of poisoning called uremia. The consequences
of this condition can include decreased
kidney efficiency, oxygen-starved tissue and
the in worst cases of all, complete kidney
failure.
With the effective forms of self care
medication, hypertension-related forms of
kidney related problems are easy to treat
and as a result most people’s renal
functions can be treated – as long as the
condition has not been allowed to progress
too far.
