In recent years
we have seen an increase in the amount of
“instant foods”, heavily processed and it is
this process of streamlining the food that
in many ways causes some of the digestive
and other health related problems that we
see today
"Eat Drink, Be Merry for Tomorrow we Diet!"
OK the above quote may be a bit of a
dramatic stretch but part of the problem
with dieting especially a “High Blood
Pressure Diet” is that we immediately get
into our minds a concept and process which
is going to much harder than it actually is.
If we start slowly and try and achieve small
things first so the that the whole process
becomes one of gradual change and not
wholesale “life-changing” then we are
already ahead of the game when it comes to
sustaining this new life pattern, Gradually
the changes become more a good habit rather
than a “forced regime” and after a while you
notice that you no longer appear to be on a
diet rather you are now sustaining amore
managed “in-take”.
From my own personal point of view the first
steps were cutting down ever so slightly the
size of the portions of food that I was
consuming and then also thinking twice about
the sort of snacks that you would consume
between meals.
The real problem for me was that we live
near a very good small Ice Cream factory
which supplies lots of the local shops and
so the major struggle was reducing the
intake of extremely delectable ice cream. I
have to say that I have not managed an ice
cream free week yet nor actually am I going
to try rather just be sensible.
Difficult with a seven year old who loves
popping in for an ice cream on his way home
after school. It would be such a shame to
see him eating that lovely “cone” all on his
own wouldn’t it…………….
We propose to expand on our information
about Diets in general and also in the
pipeline are plans to publish in conjunction
with the new discussion forums suggested
recipes that are good for those with High
Blood Pressure and help illustrate the fact
that your new “eating regime” (it sounds so
much better then a “diet” doesn’t it?)
shouldn’t be boring and if planned properly
will actually have you attracting more
family members to join you because of the
“great food” than anything else.
Now wouldn’t that be something? An actual
High Blood Pressure Diet that becomes
something else entirely?
